Bao Nguyen
Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founding Partner
Bao Nguyen, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of The Blackfin Group, brings over 25 years of hands-on leadership in the global offshore oil and gas industry. With a career spanning six continents and projects in over 20 countries, he has led complex engineering and construction initiatives for some of the world’s most challenging environments—from deepwater subsea installations in West Africa and South America to structural assessments in Europe and pipeline developments across the Gulf of Mexico.
A former U.S. Navy submarine officer and nuclear engineer, Bao combines military precision with industry acumen. His expertise covers a broad spectrum of disciplines, including offshore project management, engineering supervision, risk analysis, HSE leadership, and business development. As CEO of The Blackfin Group, he sets the strategic vision of the company, oversees operational performance, and drives business growth, while ensuring that the firm continues to deliver high-impact solutions on technically complex projects with a focus on safety, efficiency, and client success.
Glenn Tucker
Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founding Partner
Glenn Tucker is a founding partner and the Chief Technology Officer of The Blackfin Group. With over two decades of hands-on experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, Glenn leads the company’s engineering strategy and technical execution across a wide range of complex offshore projects. His background includes pipeline and structural design, installation engineering, vessel modifications, and the development of procedures for subsea infrastructure, platforms, and riser systems in both shallow and deepwater environments.
Glenn has overseen engineering for projects around the world, combining deep technical expertise with practical field experience. His leadership ensures that Blackfin delivers innovative, efficient, and reliable solutions for offshore construction and installation challenges. Glenn holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Ocean Engineering and is highly proficient in a broad suite of engineering tools and industry standards.
Doug Poteet
Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founding Partner
As Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of The Blackfin Group, Douglas brings over 30 years of global engineering and offshore project management expertise to the helm. His career includes leadership roles on complex subsea infrastructure and marine pipeline projects for major energy clients worldwide. Douglas has successfully guided initiatives from concept through execution—across deepwater and shallow water environments—ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and technical precision at every stage. His proven track record, combined with deep industry insight, reflects Blackfin’s commitment to delivering high-value, innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of both clients and investors.
Ron Hughes
Principal, and Co-Founding Partner
Ron Hughes has 30+ years of experience. He has a BS in Chemical Engineering, a Masters of Engineering Management, and an MBA. He is experienced in project management, offshore construction management, and technical engineering management. His international experience includes Asia, Africa, Middle East, South America, and Europe. He also has military leadership and operational experience.
